Types of fish?
I’m dealing with oxygen levels in freshwater ecosystems and was thinking to include types of fish that live in heat, cold and inbetween.. such at like bass, trout and pikes.
What background information should I include? I’ve tried searching on google about information.. but I can’t seem to find any information. So I’m asking my fellow fishermen! haha.
I would include something about the correlation between O2 in water and Temperature. Explain the redox of water as it passes through a fishes gills and why some species like salmanoids use more oxygen thus needing colder cleaner water versus say a warm water fish like a pumpkinseed or a carp. You can also include something about the oxygen level in a lake going so low in the winter time that it produces a “winter kill”. I would include how algae and plant life determine the maximum stocking level of a freshwater ecosystem. I’d also include how things like phosphates from fertilizers can upset the balance in an ecosystem also causing a die off of aquatic life.
